Job Description

Job Title: Fundraiser (Part-Time)

Location: Long Island City, New York (20 hours/week, primarily in-office)

About Us

At Brandworkers, we believe that workers are uniquely positioned to change their workplaces and our society. As a nonprofit worker center based in New York City, we’re partnering with food workers to get them the tools, the training, and the power they need to successfully transform their work. We’re looking for someone like you to help mobilize the resources needed to support this vision.

The Role

We are hiring a part-time Fundraiser to join our team. This position offers flexibility, leadership potential, and significant autonomy. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will design and execute fundraising strategies that are integral to sustaining and growing Brandworkers’ impact.

This role for someone passionate about worker justice, that’s our starting point. With a starting salary of $37,500 for 20 hours per week, this position offers a pathway for growth within the organization.

What You’ll Do

Drive Organizational Growth

  • Bring strategic insights to help Brandworkers surpass its historical fundraising cap of $600K and set the foundation for sustainable growth.
  • Regularly analyze fundraising data and provide recommendations to the Executive Director on how to refine and scale efforts.

Support and Expand Our Current Donor Base

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to maintain and grow relationships with existing individual, foundation, and organizational funders.
  • Assist in preparing grant applications and reports by reviewing, editing, and identifying opportunities to streamline processes.
  • Partner with the Executive Director to ensure regular communication with donors, including updates on the organization’s work, impact reports, and donor acknowledgment.
  • Play a key role in planning and executing Brandworkers’ annual fundraising events, such as the May Day campaign, annual awards dinner, and end-of-year giving.

Identify and Build New Funding Opportunities

  • Research and identify new individual, foundation, and organizational funding prospects that align with Brandworkers’ mission.
  • Strategize with the Executive Director to secure meetings and build relationships with potential funders.
  • Create and implement outreach plans to engage new donors and expand Brandworkers’ financial support beyond the current donor base.

Strengthen Fundraising Systems

  • Take the lead in organizing and optimizing Brandworkers’ Salesforce database to improve donor tracking and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain a system for monitoring fundraising progress, including setting and tracking goals for individual and institutional fundraising campaigns.
  • Provide logistical support for quarterly community-building dinners and other initiatives aimed at engaging supporters.

About You

We’re looking for a candidate who thrives in a role with significant independence and values taking initiative. The ideal candidate is comfortable setting their own priorities while maintaining focus on organizational goals. Flexibility and adaptability are key—you’ll work in a supportive and collaborative environment but will also have the autonomy to shape your work and schedule to achieve results.

You should have:

  • A passion for building the labor movement.
  • A commitment to racial, gender, and economic justice.
  • A minimum of 1–3 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, development, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a knack for storytelling.
  • Determination, a love of feedback, and a commitment to improvement.
  • Confidence in managing projects, meeting deadlines, and working collaboratively with others.
  • The ability to work in-person in Long Island City, NY.

Compensation and Benefits

The starting salary for this 20-hour-per-week role is $37,500. As a part-time employee, you’ll enjoy a flexible schedule, professional development opportunities, and the chance to lead high-impact work.
