Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Part-Time Health Care Coverage Educator. This position is focused on providing health care coverage literacy education to underserved communities across the state of Kentucky. Specifically, the will work with Black, Spanish-speaking, and rural populations to help them navigate the complexities of health care coverage, ensuring that they can obtain, retain, and use their coverage to support their medical, emotional, and financial well-being.

The will collaborate closely with various community partners, including Federally Qualified Health Centers, clinics, and health education organizations. By working together, the team will refine and develop educational materials and resources to best serve the needs of these populations. The will also train other community educators and directly deliver educational content at events, ensuring that the information is accessible and culturally respectful.

Core Responsibilities:
Collaborate with partners to develop and deliver engaging, accessible educational materials (written, oral, and video) on health care coverage options and factors to consider when choosing coverage for individuals and families.
Create informative modules that address potential policy changes and how these may impact individuals' ability to access and maintain health care coverage.
Gather feedback from community partners and learners to assess the effectiveness of the educational materials, making necessary adjustments based on input.
Ensure that all educational materials and presentations are culturally sensitive and reflect an understanding of the values and needs of the target populations.
Deliver presentations on how health insurance works and its impact on individual health decisions.
Build and maintain strong relationships with partners and community organizations to support the program's success.

Required Qualifications:
Strong understanding of the US healthcare system and its landscape.
Experience working with diverse populations and communities.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking and presenting.
Superior organizational and interpersonal skills, with strong attention to detail.
Ability to understand and explain complex subject matter in a simple and engaging way.
Proficiency in MS Word and PowerPoint.
Familiarity with in-person and online adult education techniques and a proven track record in educational program effectiveness.
Ability to tailor communications based on the audience's health literacy and educational background.
Access to reliable personal transportation for occasional travel within Kentucky.

Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Public Health, Health Education, Community Health, or a related field.
Professional experience in health care coverage education or sales.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Experience working in nonprofit organizations and with grant-funded projects.
Experience in print and web communication.

Compensation & Benefits:
Annualized Salary: $60,000 - $65,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
Commitment: 20 hours per week.
Duration: Initial grant term from January 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026, with potential for extension based on funding.
Location: Primarily remote, with some in-person training and travel required throughout Kentucky.
Benefits: Health insurance stipend and paid time off.
