Job Description

Job Purpose: The Housekeeping Attendant is responsible for ensuring a clean, comfortable, and welcoming environment for guests by maintaining the cleanliness of guest rooms, bathrooms, and public areas. This role plays a critical part in delivering exceptional guest experience by adhering to hotel cleanliness standards, restocking amenities, and promptly addressing guest requests. Housekeeping Attendants contribute to the overall reputation of the hotel by upholding hygiene, sanitation, and presentation standards in all areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Must, always, be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers, and other team members. * Regular attendance is required in compliance with Island House standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel. * Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include a clean, pressed uniform when working. * Always comply with Island House standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations. * Clean and sanitize guest rooms, including bathrooms, furniture, floors, and fixtures to Island House standards. * Change bed linens, replace towels, and restock toiletries and amenities. * Empty trash bins and ensure the room is neat and presentable. * Clean and maintain hotel common areas such as lobbies, hallways, elevators, and restrooms. * Dust and polish furniture, wipe down surfaces, and vacuum carpets. * Ensure public areas remain tidy and inviting for guests. * Collect and transport linens to the laundry area. * Sort, fold, and restock clean linens and towels for housekeeping carts. * Respond to guest requests promptly, such as providing extra towels or pillows. * Report lost and found items to the appropriate department. * Follow all hotel safety and sanitation guidelines, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals. * Report any maintenance issues, damage, or safety hazards to the supervisor. * Work collaboratively with housekeeping and other hotel departments to ensure smooth operations. * Meet daily room cleaning quotas and maintain high cleanliness standards. * Organize housekeeping carts and supply closets at the beginning and end of shifts. * Responsible for the safety of the department and the building. * Perform all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience: * High school diploma or equivalent experience in lieu of. * Previous experience in Housekeeping preferred, hotel housekeeping, a plus Physical Demands: * Flexible Schedule – ability to work long hours, weekends, holidays. * Ability to stand for long periods of time, often the entire shift. * Ability to move quickly about the property to the various departments. * Must work well in highly stressful situations to effectively lead and provide guidance to guests and employees. * Must be able to lift, bend, and carry up to 40 lbs. Required Competencies: * Must be able to follow Island House standards and policies. * Responds promptly and politely to guest requests. * Maintains a friendly and professional demeanor when interacting with guests.
