As a Level II Lab Analyst, you'll play a vital role in advancing critical testing that supports life-changing medical innovations. Working under the guidance of a Study Director, you will perform testing across multiple departments, ensuring precise data capture, sample traceability, and strict adherence to established protocols.

Hours: - Monday through Friday: Day Shift
- Full Time: 40 hours per week (Overtime paid at time+ half)
- Start time: between 7am-9am (8-hour shifts)
Departments Commonly Supported: BET (Bacterial Endotoxin): The Bacterial Endotoxins Test (BET) is an in vitro assay for detection and quantitation of bacterial endotoxins, a component of the cell wall of gram-negative bacteria. The BET is performed as part of the lot release testing for medical devices with direct or indirect contact to the cardiovascular system, lymphatic system, or cerebrospinal fluid. Injectable pharmaceutical products must also be tested for bacterial endotoxins.
Routine Chemistry: Nelson Laboratories performs vendor qualifications to approve suppliers of pharmaceutical actives and excipients by using multiple wet chemistry techniques, both qualitative and quantitative. Examples of tests performed include Identification tests, Iron, Lead, Arsenic, Fats and Fixed Oil tests, titrations, etc.
Bioburden: The Bioburden Test determines the total number of viable microorganisms in or on a medical device, container, or component. It is performed on any product that requires control and/or monitoring of bioburden counts, usually as part of a sterilization program. This test acts as an early warning system for possible production problems that could lead to inadequate sterilization. It is also used to calculate the necessary dose for effective radiation sterilization and to monitor product routinely as part of quarterly dose audits
Healthcare Reprocessing: Nelson Labs offers a full range of medical device cleaning, disinfection and sterilization validation services to validate manufacturers' reprocessing instructions for reusable devices. This is essential to ensuring that medical devices processed in a health care setting are safe for their intended use or reuse.
Experience & Education Required: - 1-2+ years of directly relevant Production Laboratory Testing; Medical Device, Pharma, Tissue or similar
- A Strong willingness to rotate teams frequently and adapt to consistent change
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant Life Science
- Flexibility in schedule to adapt to assigned departments
- *This may require small alterations of schedule to start slightly earlier in the day or later to align with an assigned department's needs (schedules are planned out as far in advance as possible)
- The flexibility needed would typically remain within day shift hours; start times between 7am - 9am / 8-hour shifts)
Key responsibilities Include: - Supporting sections requiring additional testing and test support.
- Identifying deficits in the necessary employee volume and supplementing the efforts of the section in question.
- Rotating consistently among several teams and projects to ensure balanced support across sections.
- By doing so, POD Laboratory Analysts help maintain high standards of laboratory operations and contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the testing processes.
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional laboratory environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and lab equipment including but not limited to, computers, keyboards, computer mouse, telephones, photocopiers, file cabinets, microscopes, micropipettes, pipette aids and various hand tools. The possibility exists for exposure to biological and chemical hazards, exposure to carcinogenic compounds and other environmental aspects which may be considered unfavorable. Employees are expected to follow Biosafety and Chemical Hygiene policies, practices and procedures.
Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are a representation of those that must be met to perform the essential job functions:
- Required to sit 15% of the day, stand and traverse 75% of the day to various office and lab locations and 10% of the day working at a computer.
- Bending, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing.
- Ability to have full body movement required.
- Occasional push and pull tasks with one or both hands.
- Must be able to work while wearing personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, goggles, face shields, gloves, lab coats and personal protective equipment deemed necessary to protect testing and to protect employees from various solutions, wastes, etc.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.
