Job Description

Position Summary:

As a Commercial Roofing Estimator , you will be essential in reviewing project specifications, conducting detailed assessments of roofing needs, and preparing precise estimates for materials, labor, and costs. You will work closely with project managers, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth project execution while upholding high standards of quality and safety.

Key Duties:

  • Project Evaluation :

    • Thoroughly examine project blueprints, plans, and specifications to understand scope and requirements.
    • Perform on-site inspections to evaluate existing roofing conditions and gather necessary data for accurate estimates.
  • Cost Estimation :

    • Utilize specialized software to create detailed and competitive estimates for materials, labor, and associated project costs.
    • Research vendor pricing to secure the best rates and ensure cost-effective project solutions.
    • Prepare itemized bid proposals outlining all project costs and components.
  • Team Collaboration & Communication :

    • Collaborate with project managers, clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to clarify project details and resolve any discrepancies.
    • Maintain proactive communication with all internal and external parties to align on project scope, timelines, and budgets.
  • Continuous Learning & Process Improvement :

    • Stay informed on industry trends, new roofing technologies, and updates to building codes and regulations.
    • Apply best practices to enhance estimation accuracy and improve the overall process.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience : At least 5 years of experience as a Commercial Roofing Estimator or in a similar construction-related role.
  • Industry Knowledge : Strong understanding of commercial roofing systems, materials, installation techniques, and building code regulations.
  • Technical Skills : Proficiency with estimation software, such as The Edge, and familiarity with project management tools.
  • Attention to Detail : Ability to provide accurate, competitive, and data-driven estimates.
  • Communication : Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work well with clients, team members, and vendors.
  • Time Management : Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education : A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is a plus.
  • Certifications : Relevant certifications in roofing systems, project management, or estimating are an advantage.
