Job Description



The Senior Accountant is a key position within our Accounting department. The expectations for the role are to demonstrate strong and effective management over the monthly close process specific to his or her responsibilities.

The Senior Accountant will assist in the month end close accounting cycle and internal and external reporting of the Company. This individual will manage the month end responsibilities of the Company, including, but not limited to recording general and administrative and operating expenses transactions and related account reconciliations and variance analysis. The position will oversee the responsibilities of staff accountants.

The candidate will be able to develop and maintain smooth, cooperative working relationships with all levels in the Company and cross-functional departments such as Accounts Payable, Financial Planning & Analysis, Financial Reporting, Payroll, Marketing, Risk Management, Legal and Tax. Qualified candidates will bring a strong knowledge of US GAAP, proven leadership ability, excellent communication skills as well as a strong record of process improvements.

This individual will approach projects with a flexible, innovative, detail-oriented approach, and a strong emphasis on system-based (rather than people-based) solutions.

This position will report directly to the Manager of Accounting at the Company’s corporate headquarters.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the month-end close process including but not limited to: recording corporate and operating expenses, prepaid expenses, accruals and reserves
  • Monitor, analyze, and reconcile various expense accounts
  • Support the transactions and fluctuations of the P&L accounts with robust variance analysis
  • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and provide analytical commentary on fluctuations
  • Provide guidance and training to staff accountants
  • Prepare various schedules, memos, and supporting documentation for internal records and external audit
  • Generate periodic financial reports for monthly close and provide variance analysis
  • Work in partnership with and provide support to managers for various financial and operating analyses and ad hoc projects
  • Ability to work and partner effectively with other departments, such as Accounts Payable, Legal, Marketing, Risk Management, Financial Reporting, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Tax
  • Research and implement strategic based processes to improve accounting and month-end close responsibilities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, MBA or Masters preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a monthly end close accounting function and preparation of various financial reports. 
  • CPA or actively pursuing CPA certification preferred
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of D365 Finance and Operations, Microsoft Dynamics AX, a plus
  • Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and experience with internal controls
  • Self-motivated, proactive thinker with ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload.
  • Work both independently with limited supervision as well as in a team environment.
  • Able to handle pressure and short deadlines with a positive attitude
  • Exhibit willingness and ability to learn, adapt and improve the environment.
  • Great attention to detail and highly organized
  • Strong analytical and communication skills
  • Career-minded and goal-oriented person who can see challenges as an opportunity for future advancements

Pay Transparency: Min $83K - Max $93K
