🩻 Position Overview

The X-Ray Technician will be responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures in accordance with hospital protocols. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of radiographic techniques, patient care, and safety protocols. You will work collaboratively with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare team members to ensure accurate imaging and exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Diagnostic Imaging:

  • Perform high-quality X-ray procedures following physician orders and hospital protocols.
  • Properly position patients to obtain accurate and clear images while ensuring comfort and safety.
  • Adjust imaging equipment and techniques to ensure optimal image quality with minimal radiation exposure.
  • Ensure all images are appropriately labeled and submitted to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).

Patient Care:

  • Verify patient identity using two unique identifiers before conducting procedures.
  • Clearly explain the X-ray procedure to patients, addressing any questions or concerns.
  • Ensure patient privacy, dignity, and comfort throughout the imaging process.
  • Monitor patients for any adverse reactions and respond accordingly.

Equipment Maintenance & Safety:

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot X-ray equipment according to hospital standards.
  • Follow proper radiation safety protocols, including the use of lead aprons, shields, and dosimeters.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the appropriate department.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate and thorough patient records, including procedure details and imaging data.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, protocols, and regulatory standards (HIPAA, OSHA, etc.).
  • Participate in quality control initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
  • Licensure/Certification:

    • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification required.
    • State licensure (if applicable).
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 1 year of experience as an X-ray Technician preferred.
    • Experience working in a hospital or clinical setting is a plus.
  • Skills:

    • Proficiency in operating radiographic equipment.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Excellent patient care and communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
